- You wake up in the middle of the night with a brilliant idea that is completely impractical and can’t get back to sleep until you’ve worked out every little detail.
- You indulge in (and are quite renowned among friends for) making completely random, yet very accurate observations.
- You have a million good ideas and a thousand unfinished projects.
- You say more in the 2 sentences that you do say than most people do in the their 7,596 sentences.
- Once you obsess over something and later master it, it gets boring and you move on.
- You ignore things that most people laugh at because they are obvious and stupid, and you are the only one laughing at something subtle and clever.
- You debate with yourself about the meaning of every word.
- Social relationships are a paradox to you, but you can blend in rather well. “Chameleon” is a word you can relate to.
- People think you are unobservant when, really, you simply notice different things than most.
- You’re often told that you think too much.
- You can get a lot done – as long as it’s the stuff you’re not meant to be doing.
- You confuse everyone around you with words far too long for casual conversation.
- You’re not paranoid, it’s all perfectly logical.
- Sometimes you come up with something that you think is exactly how you wanted to put it, but people just get more confused, despite how simple it seems to you.
- You have spent a whole night of not sleeping, pondering something, and then after asking someone about it the next day, realize that you’re the only one who seems to care.
- You have intentions to do anything and everything… eventually.
- You refuse to do some things in the name of “intellectual principles”.
- You can give logical justification for every action you’ve ever taken.
- When you tell your parents/employer your room/office is “not trashed! It’s got complex order!”
- When you obsessively use parenthesis or slashes in your sentences (well not necessarily in your sentences; just running off on tangents when speaking/writing, and being in the necessity to find a means of keeping it all clear).

Hehe. True. And 18. makes people go crazy. :-DDDD
Posted by Hajni | December 19, 2009, 2:55 pm18 really does drive people up a wall… :)
Posted by INTP Info | December 22, 2009, 10:46 pmBut the question is: does that mean our action was pretty much logical, or does it just mean we're good at making excuses?
I feel like I usually mess up because of some oversight or misunderstanding, not because it was a dumb thing to do. But I'm obviously biased, so how can I tell?
Posted by Jonny | December 23, 2009, 12:21 amI'd tend to agree with the messing up because of an oversight or misunderstanding. But then, I'm an INTP and therefore also biased…
But I think when you look in perspective at the types of people who will blatantly take illogical action intentionally (or out of apathy), it's not too much of an exaggeration. Which isn't to say we're "better" as people – just more focused on making rational decisions based on all evidence provided up to the moment.
Posted by INTP Info | December 23, 2009, 12:36 amOh you know you want to say our way is better then a blatant irrationals. I do! Just make sure you attach that nagging subjective bias clause that we can't help but specify…

Posted by Jugdish X Holdsclaw | January 7, 2010, 5:25 amYes. I am a lady INTP and life is pretty interesting. I feel like I think like a man. I have brilliant ideas, in fact if I could just think up ideas all day my life would be awesome :-). But alas, I go to work like everyone else and rot in my cubicle. I have a rich thought life, hate having to explain myself, and just "get" things. I can't explain it, I just do. I also have an uncanny defensive driving ability. I haven't figured that one out yet. In general, people think I'm weird, or special, or just downright amazing. As far as relationships go, I find most men to be boring and incompetent babies. I definitely need a person with a similar personality or someone who is just very understanding…
It's a long response but my muse struck
Posted by MsAlphaFee | January 21, 2010, 1:23 amYou forgot commas in #18. And lady INTPs do exist, as I am proof of that. ;)
